I've noticed in the past, with other therapists, that I get really O/C about any little change in the environment. Now, I'm doing it a lot with the psych. I've been seeing for about 10 months. While I wait in the waiting room, I have to straighten all the pictures, put back magazines others have left out of place, straighten the couch cushions, etc.
Last week, I went in and, in his office, two chairs had been moved slightly. I practically made it an accusation when I commented on it! nd I HAD to put them back the way they'd always been.
Anyone else get particularly wierd at their shrink's? Any good thoughts as to WHY?!

Re: OCD--about my therapist's office
Mon, July 2, 2007 - 8:54 PMomg ok so here's my story about what happened at my therapist appt. one time
I was sitting there talking to her.....she moved the chair over to get comfortable, I was laying across the little couch like I always do because it's comfortable.....I noticed she messed up the rug...I mentioned it to her, and she told me to stop trying to change the subject. I told her I could not stand the rug being curled up in the corner could she please just fix it and get back to the topic. She said no, it's fine like it is, stop trying to change the subject. I got so frustrated I wanted to throw the lamp at her. Finally, after seeing herself that I wouldn't say anything until she fixed the rug, she fixed it. She knows I always study the rug while I'm talking to her because I have problems with eye contact.....she's always got to bring me to earth because I'm always focusing on the little things that could be fixed, I want to go in one day and just clean her office sooooo bad.....they're trying to treat my "condition" with anafranil but so far, I'm still very much OCD.

Re: OCD--about my therapist's office
Thu, July 5, 2007 - 10:18 AMNot my therapist but the eye doctor. I went into his office and all his certificates and stuff on his wall were crooked. Like 15 of them! Ok it's the EYE doctor. I started to fix them all and he said, "You don't have to do that." Yes I do. -

Re: OCD--about my therapist's office
Thu, July 5, 2007 - 9:12 PMI think it's about time that I visit an eye doctor. Even though the past 4 years straight I've had the same prescription. I haven't been in a year. But I often find myself doing stuff like that.
Tonight we went to (ugh) McDonald's after going to Six Flags, and they had a sign that said No ice cream or shaes (shakes) and I went up there and told the people they misspelled on the sign and they were so embarrassed lol my dad was telling me to shut up but I was like "But it's spelled wrong!!!!"
They fixed it. Thank goodness.
